Source code offer

Readnslate's Enhanced translation engine is built from Mozilla's Bergamot inference runtime, which is licensed under the Mozilla Public License 2.0. Under section 3.2 of that licence you are entitled to its Source Code Form, including Readnslate's modifications. Here it is.

The archive applies to every version of Readnslate that ships the library libreadnslate_bergamot.so with SHA-256 3d7d2ce562a9962ae74c1e6a1dc282a9f1e39607ee68e7741f7383ac2433e71b (36,362,792 bytes), which is the library in Readnslate 1.0.0. The app's own notices (Help & About › Licenses › Mozilla Bergamot Enhanced translation) point to this page.

What the archive contains

The seven third-party dependencies the build also needs (ssplit-cpp, SentencePiece, onnxjs, ruy, cpuinfo, simd_utils and PCRE2 10.39) are not MPL-covered software, so the archive lists them with their repositories, revisions and SHA-256 checksums rather than bundling them; the included fetch script downloads and verifies them. The archive's README.md gives the rebuild steps (Android NDK 28.2.13676358, CMake 3.22.1, arm64-v8a).

Translation models

The Enhanced packs the app downloads are Mozilla's released translation models, also MPL-2.0, taken unmodified from Mozilla's model repository. The archive's models.json names each pack with its upstream revision and file hashes.

If the download does not work

Write to readnslate.supp@hotmail.com with "Source request" in the subject and the source will be provided at no more than the cost of distribution. This offer applies to every version of Readnslate that ships this engine.

Other open-source components

Readnslate also includes the Readium EPUB engine, Princeton WordNet, a rebuild of the AndroidX PDF viewer and other libraries under their own licences. Their notices are in the app and on the Licences page; those licences do not require a source offer. The AndroidX viewer is modified (a horizontal reading lock and the removal of its page-number bubble), and its notice says so.
